immediately as well as prospectively, has induced me to lengthen this letter more than I originally contemplated, and as Sir Henry Pottinger has recently transmitted to the Earl of Aberdeen a long correspondence on the Rupee and Dollar - Trust Your Excellency will deem the facts contained in this letter worthy the Consideration of H. M's. Government, before any decision be formed on the future mode of providing supplies of Coins for China.
I do not wish to enter on the question of a mint - to prepare coinage for the Chinese Empire as well as for Colony, as I am framing a Commercial Report for Your Excellency in which this subject, in reference to the supplies of Bullion from China, and the Balance of trade will be brought under your consideration.
